You must be a native speaker of the language you'll be offering, or have near-native fluency (C2 level). This is what tourists are paying for — authentic language immersion.
You must be based in a city where LangMate operates. Currently available in 14 European cities — if your city isn't listed, join the waitlist and we'll notify you when we launch there.
You need a valid passport, national ID, or driver's license for identity verification. This is required to receive payments through Stripe Connect and to build trust with tourists.
All Language Companions must be at least 18 years old. No exceptions. This is a legal requirement for both the payment platform and the safety of all users.
You need a smartphone to manage bookings, do check-in/check-out during sessions, and receive notifications. Basic tech literacy is all that's required.
We expect companions to be punctual, respectful, and genuinely engaged during sessions. Companions with consistently poor reviews are removed from the platform.
